Stone Row

Granite

Much has been done to restore this stone row, with two of the three stones here having been re-erected. They stand in the Glengorm Estate on a mound with a low stone ring around them. An eerie atmosphere surrounds this setting when the mist is down. White florets of crustose lichen stand out against the burgundy brown of the Granite stone.

Stone Circle

Granite

Set in wet marshland with the surrounding mountains forming a natural amphitheatre, this circle of eight stones has a nearby outlier which has prompted theories of associations with the setting of the midsummer and midwinter sun. The surrounding high moisture levels have encouraged a vigorous covering of moss and lichen growth.
