Glebe Stone
Borders
Standing Stone
Red Sandstone
Standing witness to the bloodshed of battles and massacres in this now tranquil region west of Selkirk, this old stone may once have been part of a cairn complex. Above the stone's bare base, the lichen growth has developed greater on the upper surfaces.
Sheriffmuir
Borders
Standing Stones
Red Sandstone
Water has played a significant role in the setting of Neolithic and Bronze Age sites. The two stones of Sheriffmuir stand on a north-south axis at the confluence of Lyne Water and the Tweed. They appear to portray contrasting characteristics, one angular and angry, the other rounded and defensive.
