Stone Circle

Quartz Dolerite

Twelve stones once made up this large twenty-eight metre diameter circle before eight were removed in the mid nineteenth century. The flanker stones have long gone but the huge four-metre long recumbent is now the main attraction here. Prostrate like a sleeping bull and watched over by the four remaining perimeter stones, its leather like surface looks almost polished in places.
