Doune Stones

Sterlingshire

Stone Row Red

Sandstone

A row of three stones occupy a small island of unploughed land in a potato field just north of the B824 west of Dunblane. Orientated north to south, they no longer stand as intended, but tilt like a ship in a perilous storm. A broken off section of the northern stone contains a cosmic blue and rust orange covering.

Stone Circle

Quartzitic Schist

A stately crown of stones nestles at the foot of a sloping field near the joining of the rivers Dochart and Lochay. This finely preserved circle has benefited well from the protection of the Kinnell Estate. Subtle hues of blue stand out on these schist slabs with yellow and white crustose lichen on their upper regions.
