Stone Circle

Lewisian Gneiss

Pobull Fhinn is an oval circle and rests on a raised angled platform. In summer, it can be difficult to view the whole circle at one time as some of the stones are hidden in the high gorse and heather. However, the stones with the higher quartz content are easier to see when they appear to light up in the sunshine.

Standing Stone

Lewisian Gneiss

Overlooking and leaning towards the Atlantic Ocean, this figure-like stone peers out to sea and seems to take a stubborn stance against the onshore winds. From a distance, it's profile also resembles a cross. There are examples throughout the UK where Neolithic monuments have been fashioned into Christian symbols.
